Belly River Ranger Station
On the border of Montana and Alberta lies one of the most desolate trails in Glacier. As often is the case in this park, where footfalls are few, the better the view! This composition portrays Natoas Peak and the lower spur of the Cosley Ridge, as viewed from just outside the Belly River Ranger Station in early June 2021. The day preceding the morning this photo was taken, I led a group into the area along Gable Creek for our first night of camping. To the left outside the frame, lies the Ranger Station itself, and a large salt deposit we discovered. While enjoying the sunset on the porch of the station, a stout bull moose made its way into the meadow and across the fence into the salt lick. That was the moment I knew I loved Montana!
