Cosley Lake
Cosley Lake lies roughly Northwest of Gable Creek and the Belly River Ranger Station on the east side of Glacier National Park. By crossing the Belly River on swinging foot-bridge, we reached Cosley Lake- the last camp spot on this backpacking trip. Arriving in afternoon, we dropped the packs and took in the narrow view of this exquisite lake- jumping in the water, napping on the rocks, or journaling. It should be assumed that all water in this part of the country should be impossibly cold, but this remains one of the most bone-chilling bodies of water I’ve ever been in. Thank goodness for the warm rocks and sunshine! The first composition portrays Mt. Kipp, Pyramid Peak, and Cathedral Peak stirring a late afternoon sunshower beyond the Cosley, Glenns, Mokowanis, and Margaret Lake chain. The very edge of Chaney Glacier is visible where the foreground descending ridge meets the first large patch of white on the left side of the image.
