Fusillade Mountain

Fusillade Mountain is a strikingly prominent peak on the east side of Glacier National Park, presenting steep drops, sharp edges, and a neat history. Fusillade is usually considered a horn peak in the park, formed at the convergence of three separate cirques- but it is rather a horn-shaped arete. Sperry Glacier, Jackson Glacier, and Blackfoot Glacier are the last remnants of the monstrous icefields that once dug their heels in here. On an uncharacteristically cool day in June 2023, the deep contrast of the dark sediment layers of the peak paired well with a striking light dusting of snow.
