Mt. Logan
Mt. Logan is an arete separating two glacial valleys along the Continental Divide in Glacier National Park. While still centrally located within the park, the backcountry trails in this area are fairly quiet. In spite of this, the views along the Gunsight Pass trail are some of the best around. On a hiking route crossing Gunsight Pass, one can view a small portion or the entire area of seven different glaciers. I captured these photos after cooking dinner on a 3-day backpacking trip I was leading, spending the night at the foot of Gunsight Lake. This view of Mt. Logan portrays the west face of the ridge receiving the fading pink hues of the setting sun.
