Glacier National Park Wildflowers
These photos capture the incredible diversity of form, function, and color of blooming wildflowers in a meadow below Morning Star Lake in Glacier National Park. While leading a four-day backpacking trip in early July 2021, we had a free day to hike, explore, or just take in the scenery. The meadow laying behind Morning Star Lake and campground was filled with nothing short of heart-stopping serenity. We spent the whole morning watching the clouds, napping, reading, or watching a distant grizzly bear make its way along the ridgeline here. These wildflowers are of a variety of species ranging from localized subalpine meadow specialties to widespread generalists- and were often a highlight of every mile of trail we covered this trip.
